Four common faults during the use of outboard motors
Mar 17, 2023| Manufacturers of outboard motors will conduct a complete test before the products leave the factory to ensure that the products can be used normally after they are sold. However, during the use of outboard motors, there are often four faults that are relatively common:
1. The engine power of the outboard engine is insufficient: the throttle is not fully opened. Damaged or incorrectly sized propeller. The engine is out of timing and improperly adjusted in assembly. Improper load distribution on armored vehicles.
2. The starter motor cannot start the engine: the starter fuse is blown. The gear of the control box of the outboard motor is not set to neutral. The power of the battery is insufficient, or the electric starter circuit is loose, resulting in poor contact. There is a problem with the ignition key switch. Other electrical wiring connections are faulty. There is a problem with the starter motor or starter coil.
3. The engine of the outboard engine is unstable: the spark plug is too dirty or damaged. Improper assembly and adjustment of outboard motor. The fuel is blocked from entering the engine, the possible reasons are: the fuel filter is clogged. Fuel line is detached or kinked. Fuel tank filter clogged. Anti-siphon valve is stuck. The fuel pump is faulty. Ignition system component failure.
4. The battery does not charge: the connection line of the battery is loose, resulting in poor contact. Battery electrolyte level is too low. The battery is old or not efficient. Electrical accessories use excessive battery. Faulty alternator, rectifier, and voltage regulator.
