Causes And Treatments Of Difficulty Starting The Engine Of An Outboard Motor

During the use of the engine, it is easy to fail to start or difficult to start. The main reasons and treatment methods for this phenomenon are as follows:
1) Possible causes of electrical system failure:
1. The plugboard on the emergency flameout cable is not inserted into the slot of the flameout switch: insert the plugboard on the emergency flameout cable into the slot of the flameout switch.
2. The spark plug has serious carbon deposits or the model is incorrect, or the spark plug is damaged: clean the spark plug or replace it with a recommended model, or replace it with a new one if it is damaged.
3. The spark plug cap is not installed properly: reinstall it on the spark plug reliably.
4. The spark plug is not tightened enough to cause air leakage from the cylinder: re-tighten the spark plug.
5. The connectors between the wires are in poor contact: clean the connectors and insert them firmly.
6. Failure of ignition system parts: find out the cause, repair or replace with new ones.
7. The start-up procedure is abnormal: follow the start-up procedure in the machine manual.
8. The internal parts of the engine are damaged: disassemble the machine for inspection, replace the damaged parts or contact the dealer.
2) Possible causes of fuel system failure:
1. The ventilation screw on the fuel tank cap is not loose: unscrew the ventilation screw counterclockwise.
2. The oil pipe plug connection is loose: re-insert it to make it reliably connected.
3. The oil pipe is twisted, flattened or broken and leaks air: tidy up the oil pipe, and replace it with a new one if it is broken.
4. The hand pump is not squeezed before starting, and the oil circuit is not full of fuel: Squeeze the hand pump until the oil circuit is full of fuel and the hand pump becomes hard.
5. The choke is not pulled out when the cold machine is started: pull out the choke and place it in the next or third hole.
6. The fuel filter is clogged: clean or replace the new fuel filter.
7. The oil passage of the carburetor is blocked: clean and blow through the oil passage with an air compressor.
8. The fuel pump is faulty and does not supply fuel: repair it or replace it with a new one.
9. The fuel has been stored for too long or contains impurities and moisture: clean the fuel tank and fill it with fresh fuel.
10. There is no oil in the fuel tank: fill the fuel tank with fuel.
